Flipping for Flickr

This is one tool that I will start using with family and friends. It seems simple enough to get started.

Podcasts are for me

Well, now we're talking. I love podcasts and I am always happy to be able to catch up on a show I have missed from TV or NPR. Now that I know how to subscribe to the feeds... well, that just makes things a lot easier.
The Library of Congress link on the training page is a great place to browse. And if you have never attended the National Book Festival in September, really, you have to put it on your calendar for this year. Let's hope that it won't be yet another victim of the economic tsunami!
This page has all of the authors' talks from last year. It's an amazing group and there's something for everyone.

And speaking of amazing, thanks, 2.0 Committee for the tip about Netvibes. Just what we needed to corrral all of the blogs, feeds, posdcasts and vidcasts that we are discovering. Now if we just had time to actually read them all...

all a-twitter

I have to say that these lessons have given me the opportunity to think about and discuss (face to face) the whole interesting notion of "friends" and "privacy" and instant access to a world of random thoughts and opinions. How easy it can be to start reading one blog post and to suddenly realize that you have clicked and linked your way though an hour of your day ( oh, but never on work time)! I have to admit that I am still struggling to get comfortable with all of these tools. Twitter? for me? I don't think so... yet.
My daughter sent me a great article from the New York Times called, "Brave New World of Digital Intimacy" http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/07/magazine/07awareness-t.html?emc=eta1 which discussed the psychology of feeling "connected." It presented a lot of good ideas that relate perfectly to this training process at HCPL.
That said, I think that this whole process had been great, especially for someone like me who needed a little ( well, a big) push into Library 2.0. I appreciate all of the Committe's efforts.

RSS Feeds

I wanted to thank the Web 2.0 committee for the great job they have done in creating these training sessions. The videos are entertaining and all of the explanations and directions are easy to understand. Although I still would rather read than blog, I do appreciate the power of this tool.

Now for RSS Feeds, I have completed my assignment and added one as a gadget to my blog and several to a google reader.
